Last chance to run Ealing Half for charity

by 1
Monday 11th September 2017

The organisers of the award-winning Ealing Half Marathon have announced that public entries for the event on Sunday 24th September 2017 have now closed. Anyone still wishing to take part in this popular West London event can now only do so by purchasing one of the official charity places this week, and signing up before 11:59am on Monday 18th September.

With less than two weeks until race day, this exclusive charity window is a fantastic chance for runners of all abilities to experience the famous #EalingFeeling and support Lead Charities Alzheimer’s Society and Cancer Research UK. These two charities were chosen by popular request and will have a large presence on race day, cheering on their runners in full force and providing support every step of the way.

The Ealing Half Marathon has always been an important platform for charity fundraising. Over the last five years it has helped runners raise over £1 million for various charities, and all money raised at the 2017 event will make a valuable difference to this year’s fantastic causes.

Running for charity is a perfect opportunity to be part of this key event in the autumn running calendar that attracts athletes from near and far. The Ealing Half Marathon won the Silver award in the Best Half Marathon category (≥ 5,000) at The 2017 Running Awards, and was voted the UK’s best half marathon at the same ceremony in 2014, 2015 and 2016. Runners can be sure of an attractive setting, a friendly atmosphere and incredible community support.

Anyone who signs up to run the 2017 Ealing Half Marathon for Alzheimer’s Society or Cancer Research UK can set up a fundraising page quickly and easily on JustGiving, the race’s Official Online Fundraising Partner.

Sandra Courtney, Race Director, commented, “With general public entries now closed, we are delighted to still be able to offer a limited number of charity places for the 2017 Ealing Half Marathon through our two Lead Charities, Alzheimer’s Society and Cancer Research UK. Running for charity is an extremely rewarding way for last-minute entrants to get involved in the sixth Ealing Half and experience the #EalingFeeling. Each charity offers full support in the run-up to the event as well as superb race-day support, and excitement is brewing with the event less than two weeks away. We are looking forward to filling our last charity places and to delivering another first-class day of sport, entertainment and fundraising.”

The UKA-measured single lap course of the Ealing Half Marathon covers a route around West London, taking in parts of Central Ealing, Montpelier, Pitshanger, West Ealing, Hanwell and St Stephens before returning to Lammas Park.

Public places are now closed for the 2017 Ealing Half Marathon. Anyone wishing to run for charity should get in touch with their chosen charity as soon as possible and must register before 11:59am on Monday 18th September.
