Dogs Trust, Penny Appeal and Woodland Trust added to National Running Show

The National Running Show has announced the latest charities to sign up to the inaugural show on 20-21 January 2018 at Birmingham’s NEC.

Joining a high-profile line-up of exhibitors, partners and sponsors will be Penny Appeal, Dogs Trust and Woodland Trust. The inclusion of these charities acknowledges the importance of fundraising in the running industry and complements the many race organisers, sports retailers, sports brands, nutrition experts, official sporting bodies and communities already secured for The National Running Show.

Cancer Research UK has already been confirmed as Official Charity Partner of The National Running Show. Well known among runners for its Race for Life series, those booking tickets to the show online will have the option to donate to Cancer Research UK during the registration process.

Of the latest charities to come on board, Penny Appeal is an international humanitarian organisation working in over 30 crisis-hit countries to provide poverty relief. It also now works here in the UK to help vulnerable communities, families and individuals. Their mission is to transform lives and empower communities through effective immediate aid and long-term sustainable projects.

Dogs Trust is the UK’s largest dog welfare charity, caring for 15,000 lost and abandoned dogs each year through their network of 20 Rehoming Centres. Sponsoring one of these dogs through a running event helps Dogs Trust to give them the love and care they need.

Woodland Trust is the UK’s largest woodland conservation charity. The charity protects our precious ancient woods, restores the ones that are damaged and fights for those under threat. It is through the help of communities, schools, organisations and individuals that it works towards a UK rich in woods and trees, for everyone to enjoy.

Over 12,000 runners have already registered for tickets to The National Running Show, the UK’s first dedicated non-race affiliated event solely for runners. It is set to be the event to attend for runners of all abilities and interests, with a first-class programme of speakers headed up by Dame Kelly Holmes and including Jo Pavey, Jenny Tough, Susie Chan, Sean Conway and Russell Smith.

Already confirmed as partners for The National Running Show are some of the UK’s most trusted running brands and communities, including UKRunChat, Run Mummy Run, Running Heroes, The Great Run Company, Race Solutions, Xtra Mile Events, Impact Marathon Series, aat-events, White Star Running, Ealing Half Marathon, The Running Awards, Oofos and Find a Race plus Cancer Research UK as Official Charity Partner.

Media partners for the show include Men’s Running, Women’s Running, Sports Insight Magazine and Athletics Weekly.

Mike Seaman, Director of Racoon Events, commented: “We are delighted to welcome Penny Appeal, Dogs Trust and Woodland Trust to The National Running Show. Their presence as charities is highly relevant and of great inspiration to runners wanting to give something back as they work towards their goals. It is exciting to have such a fantastic line-up of exhibitors, partners, charities, sponsors and speakers and we are very much looking forward to welcoming everyone under one roof in January. It is the perfect time of year to come together and make training, race, nutrition and brand decisions for the year ahead.”
