2018 Cambridge Half sells out in 3 days!

by 1
Friday 20th October 2017

The 2018 Saucony Cambridge Half Marathon sold out in less than three days as fans of this much-loved race rushed to secure their space on the start line on Sunday 4th March.

General entries went on sale last Friday 13th October and all 9,000 places were snapped up over the weekend. The 13.1-mile race around the beautiful and historic city of Cambridge has always generated huge interest from local Cambridgeshire runners as well as from the wider running community, and organisers OSB Events were expecting places to sell quickly.

Anyone who was unsuccessful in securing a general, VIP or priority entry to the Saucony Cambridge Half Marathon can now only gain a place through the official race charity, Cancer Research UK. Charity places cost £20 with a pledge to fundraise a minimum of £300, and are available through the Cancer Research UK website.

The one-lap route of the Saucony Cambridge Half Marathon gives runners a spectacular whistle-stop tour of this iconic city. The route passes Victoria Avenue, The Backs and King’s College before taking runners through picturesque Grantchester, Market Square and the Round Church. A glorious finish then awaits on Midsummer Common, where the race village is located.

The Saucony Cambridge Half Marathon is well known for its superb atmosphere, with thousands of spectators lining the streets and cheering on competitors and plenty of entertainment for everyone to enjoy. It has become a must-do event for runners from near and far and it is easy to see why the event has sold out so quickly.

Race Director Iain Hamilton commented: “We have been overwhelmed with the uptake for the Saucony Cambridge Half Marathon and are delighted to report that general places are sold out, which reflects the popularity of the event. We are pleased to confirm that charity places are available through the official race charity, Cancer Research UK, and we hope that anyone still wishing to take part will use the opportunity to run for charity and help beat cancer sooner. The Saucony Cambridge Half Marathon is set to be a fantastic day of sporting achievement and we look forward to seeing everyone there!”

Saucony is the Headline Sponsor for the Cambridge Half Marathon and Cancer Research UK is the Official Charity Partner. Event partners include Cambridge Consultants, Anglia Ruskin University, Cambridge Property Lettings, Cambridge News, Erdinger Alkoholfrei, HIGH5, Cambridge City Council and Cambridgeshire County Council.

The Saucony Cambridge Half Marathon takes place at 9am on Sunday 4th March 2018. General entries are now closed. Charity places can be obtained through Cancer Research UK.
