Reigning champions return to Reading Half

by 1
Thursday 1st February 2018

British long distance runner and reigning men’s Champion of the Sage Reading Half Marathon, Andy Vernon, has today been confirmed to lace up for the start line on Sunday 18 March.

Crossing the line in 1:03:08 at last year's race, the 2016 Olympian and 2013/4 European bronze and silver medalist will have his eyes set on a 2018 podium win. Last year’s race saw an impressive total of 203 runners complete the 13.1 miles in sub 80 minutes, with 29 even finishing in a sub 70-minute time. These totals outstrip any other half marathon results in 2017.

Andy (Aldershot Farnham & District AC) comments: “The Reading Half Marathon holds a fantastic reputation as a very quick race - I’d definitely recommend it to anyone chasing a PB.”

Olympian Scott Overall is also confirmed for the prestigious 35th Sage Reading Half Marathon. In 2014 Scott took the win followed by a silver podium spot in 2016 – who will take the crown in the men’s event this year?

Race day will welcome over 15,000 runners to start line. The course is ideal for seasoned athletes and beginners alike. The 3km Green Park Challenge also provides the perfect option to run together with children and family.

Registration is open. Go to www.readinghalfmarathon.com for more information and to secure your place.
