When doing races in lovely parts of the world it’s often nice to make a weekend of it, or at least stay the night before to avoid a super early alarm call and a long drive before your race. All too often this leaves you in a functional Travelodge or similar.
The organisers of Shrewsbury Half Marathon, UK Run Events, have thought of this dilemma and they have arranged discounted rates on lovely runners’ accommodation so you don’t have to research it! They have announced Love2Stay as a partner of the event taking place on Sunday 17th June 2018.
Love2Stay is Shropshire’s luxury touring caravan and glamping resort, located at Salop Leisure in Shrewsbury. The stunning resort stretches across 22 acres of rural Shropshire and is the ideal place to stay for those visiting the area for the race and wanting to enjoy a superb weekend away.
Pairing luxury and high-quality service, half marathon guests can unwind and relax, soothe tired muscles in the natural swimming pool and enjoy the stunning scenery of Love2Stay whilst preparing for and recovering from race day. Whether travelling on their own or with family and friends, the resort is a perfect partner for what promises to be the biggest and best Shrewsbury Half Marathon yet.

Shrewsbury Half Marathon competitors will benefit from a reduced rate at Love2Stay, with a generous 25% off glamping fees and 10% off touring fees. The discounted fee for 3 nights’ (minimum) glamping sleeping six is £495, while the fee for 2 nights’ touring is £61.80 for a couple or £70.20 for a family. The special race weekend deals are subject to availability and on a first-come, first-served basis.
With just over two months until race day, those wishing to book Love2Stay are encouraged to do so now by calling 01743 583124 and quoting ‘Half Marathon’ to claim their discount.
Shrewsbury Half Marathon offers a perfect combination of history and scenery, its closed-road route taking runners through Shrewsbury’s Medieval town centre and some of Shropshire’s most beautiful countryside. The race starts and finishes at Shropshire County Showground, a first-class venue with ample space and facilities for competitors and supporters. A UKRunChat pacing team will be helping runners to achieve their target times on the 13.1-mile course, and runners can look forward to a lively atmosphere with fantastic support.
Race Director Joe Williams commented, “We are delighted to announce Love2Stay as a partner for the 2018 Shrewsbury Half Marathon. Love2Stay is a holiday park with a difference, where guests can relax and enjoy all that the area has to offer whilst enjoying first-class service and facilities. We are proud that our partnership gives Shrewsbury Half Marathon runners special reduced rates at Love2Stay, as this is a wonderful option for those travelling from further afield for the race. We are looking forward to welcoming runners from near and far to the 2018 Shrewsbury Half Marathon and places are still available on the race website!”
The very first Shrewsbury Half Marathon Corporate Challenge will be taking place alongside the 2018 event, giving businesses the chance to enter teams of 1-5 runners and compete for the title of the fastest business.
The Shropshire Primary Schools Challenge will also see children from local schools running the final 1.1 miles of a cumulative half marathon on Saturday 16th June, the day before the half marathon.
The race has teamed up with a number of local charity partners for those that wish to put their efforts towards raising money for a good cause.
A total of 3,500 places are available for Shrewsbury Half Marathon and entries are now open.
General entry costs £28 (affiliated) or £30 (non-affiliated), plus a booking fee. All finishers receive a bespoke medal, technical t-shirt, goody bag, free pre and post-race massage, and free races photos worth £19.99.
